Product Description
The Tanglong Orange Bougainvillea is an exotic, heavy-blooming Thai cultivar renowned for its brilliant, papery orange bracts that provide a vivid, fire-like tropical display nearly year-round in warm climates. Often propagated via grafting to enhance vigor and disease resistance, it functions wonderfully as an ornamental climber, dense hedge, or container specimen.
PLANT CHARACTERISTICS
BRACTS & FLOWERS: Features vibrant, papery orange modified leaves (bracts) surrounding tiny, inconspicuous tubular white or yellow true flowers.
GROWTH HABIT: A vigorous, woody, and thorny sprawling vine or evergreen shrub that can reach heights of 1 to 12 meters depending on structural support and pruning.
FOLIAGE: Glossy, dark green, ovate-to-heart-shaped leaves.
CARE AND GROWTH REQUIREMENTS
SUNLIGHT: Requires full sun—at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily—for optimal, intense orange coloration and profuse blooming cycles.
WATERING: Highly drought-tolerant once established. Water moderately, allowing the topsoil to dry out completely between watering sessions to prevent root rot.
SOIL: Prefers rich, loose, and very well-draining sandy or loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
PRUNING: Prune regularly right after a heavy flowering flush to control its sprawling shape and stimulate fresh new growth for subsequent blooms.
FEEDING: Benefits from a balanced or low-nitrogen, phosphorus-rich fertilizer during the warm growing seasons to maximize flower production.
