Product Description

The R2E2 mango plant is an Australian-bred hybrid variety famous for producing giant, jumbo-sized fruits that can weigh up to 400–700 grams.

FRUIT CHARACTERISTICS

  • APPEARANCE: Round to oval shape with vibrant green-yellow skin that develops a bright orange-red or yellow-orange blush when ripe.

  • FLESH: Deep golden-yellow, firm, and nearly fiberless with a smooth, creamy texture.

  • TASTE: Sweet and rich tropical flavor with subtle notes of citrus, spice, and a mild tart finish.

  • SHELF LIFE: Exceptional post-harvest shelf life, making it a favorite for commercial export.

PLANT & GROWTH TRAITS

  • TYPE: Usually sold as a grafted live plant which ensures true-to-type fruit and faster harvesting.

  • VIGOR & SIZE: Extremely fast-growing and vigorous in its first few years, eventually reaching 6 to 10 meters in open ground if unpruned, with an upright, open canopy.

  • BRANCHES: Relatively brittle and prone to snapping under heavy fruit loads, so young branches benefit from early staking.

  • FRUITING TIME: Starts bearing fruit in about 2 to 3 years after planting. It matures mid-to-late season.

CARE & GROWING REQUIREMENTS

  • SUNLIGHT: Needs full, direct sunlight for at least 6 to 8 hours daily.

  • CLIMATE: Thrives in tropical and subtropical conditions (ideal temperature range of 25°C to 38°C).

  • SOIL: Well-drained sandy loam or red soil enriched with organic compost or vermicompost. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.

  • WATERING: Water moderately (about twice weekly when young/during dry spells), allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

  • POT GROWING: Can be grown in large containers or grow bags (at least 24x30 inches), though ground planting yields maximum growth.
