Bougainvillea 'Lady Mary Baring' is a vigorous, scrambling tropical climber famous for its brilliant golden-yellow papery bracts.

BOTANICAL NAME: Bougainvillea × buttiana 'Lady Mary Baring' (or Bougainvillea glabra cross)

FLOWERS & BRACTS: Produces tiny, inconspicuous creamy-white flowers surrounded by large, showy golden-yellow or lemon-yellow bracts.

GROWTH HABIT: A woody, scrambling evergreen or semi-evergreen vine that can reach 25 to 40 feet outdoors, or stay compact (8–10 feet) when pruned and grown in containers.

FOLIAGE: Smooth, dark green ovate leaves.

CARE AND CULTIVATION

SUNLIGHT: Requires full sun, needing at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily for heavy blooming.

WATERING: Water deeply but allow the soil to dry completely between waterings; mild drought stress encourages more profuse flowering.

SOIL: Prefers rich, loose, and very well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.

PRUNING: Prune hard after a flowering cycle to maintain shape, control size, and promote new flowering branches.

USES: Ideal for covering sunny walls, fences, pergolas, and archways, or for container gardening on sunny patios.
