Product Description

The Japanese Rose Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), also commonly called the Chinese hibiscus or tropical hibiscus, features stunning white and pink bi-colored varieties or color-shifting types like Hibiscus mutabilis (cotton rose).

FLOWER DETAILS

  • APPEARANCE: Large, showy blooms (often 10–15 cm across) with velvety or ruffled petals.

  • COLORS: Displays soft white petals accented by a deep pink or red center, sometimes radiating outward in a pinwheel pattern.

  • LIFESPAN: Individual tropical hibiscus flowers typically open in the morning and last for just one day before wilting by evening, though the plant blooms continuously throughout the warm season.

  • FOLIAGE: Framed by glossy, dark green, oval leaves.

CARE AND GROWTH REQUIREMENTS

  • LIGHT: Requires full sun to bright, indirect light (at least 5 to 6 hours of sunlight daily) for optimal flowering.

  • WATERING: Keep the soil consistently moist during warmer months, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

  • CLIMATE: Thrives in tropical and warm climates; protect the plant if temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F).
