Product Description

The Hong Zhu Mango plant is a highly sought-after, exotic mango variety originating from the East Asian region (often attributed to Taiwan or China). It is highly celebrated by gardening enthusiasts for its stunning reddish-purple fruit appearance, exceptional honey-sweet flavor, and naturally compact dwarf growth habit, making it ideal for home gardens and container cultivation.

FRUIT PROFILE & CHARACTERISTICS

  • APPEARANCE: The fruit is medium to large (averaging 18–21 cm in length and up to 900–1500 grams in premium conditions) with an oval shape. It develops a brilliant, vibrant reddish-pink to deep-purple blush over golden-yellow skin as it ripens.

  • FLESH & TEXTURE: The deep yellow pulp is exceptionally dense, juicy, and almost entirely fiberless, offering a smooth and melting texture.

  • FLAVOR PROFILE: It delivers an intense, honey-like sweetness accompanied by a rich tropical aroma with mild undertones of citrus, pineapple, or coconut.

PLANT SPECIFICATIONS

  • GROWTH HABIT: It behaves as a semi-dwarf or compact tree. Because of its manageable lateral branching, it responds well to pruning and can be maintained effortlessly in large 24-to-30-inch terrace pots or grow bags.

  • FRUITING TIMELINE: It can begin flowering and bearing fruit within 1 to 2 years under optimal maintenance, compared to seed-grown trees which take several years.

  • YIELD CAPACITY: It is noted as an "all-time" or highly productive variety, capable of reliable and heavy fruit clustering once established.

Essential Care & Cultivation Guide

  1. SUNLIGHT: Place it in an outdoor location that receives full, direct sunlight for at least 6 to 8 hours daily. Ample sun exposure is crucial for fruit sweetening and vibrant skin color development.

  2. SOIL & PLANTING: Use a rich, loamy, well-draining soil mix enriched with organic compost or cow manure. When planting, dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, insert the sapling gently, and backfill without burying the graft union.

  3. WATERING: Water deeply and regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the early growth phase and fruit development. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly before watering again; avoid waterlogging to protect against root rot.

  4. FERTILISATION: Apply a balanced organic fertilizer or seasonal fruit-boosting feeds during the primary spring and summer growing cycles to encourage robust canopy branching and bloom density.
