Product Description

The Honeydew Mango plant (often sold as a premium grafted hybrid or Thai variety) is highly prized by home gardeners and commercial growers for its exceptionally sweet, melon-like flavor profile and juicy, fiberless texture.

FRUIT PROFILE

  • TASTE & TEXTURE: It features an ultra-sweet, honey-like richness with subtle floral notes. The flesh is completely fiberless, smooth, and succulent, making it ideal for fresh consumption or desserts.

  • APPEARANCE: The fruits are medium-to-large with a smooth, light golden to pale yellow skin when fully ripe.

  • HARVEST SEASON: The main fruiting window occurs during early to mid-summer.

PLANT & CULTIVATION SPECIFICATIONS

  • GROWTH HABIT: A medium-sized evergreen tree with dense, glossy green foliage. While it can grow up to 6–8 meters in the ground, it is easily maintained at compact sizes through pruning.

  • EARLY FRUITING: Because commercial saplings are propagated via grafting, they bypass long juvenile phases and typically start bearing fruit in 2 to 3 years.

  • CLIMATE & SOIL: It thrives across diverse tropical and subtropical climates (ideally 21°C to 35°C). It requires well-draining, fertile loamy soil with an optimal pH range of 5.5 to 7.5.

CORE CARE REQUIREMENTS

  • SUNLIGHT: Requires full sun (at least 6 to 8 hours of direct daily light). Shading leads to heavy foliage growth but minimal to no fruit production.

  • WATERING SCHEDULE: Young plants need everyday watering for the first 3 years while the root system establishes. Mature trees only require watering during long dry spells, especially during flowering and fruit setting. Avoid waterlogging.

  • CONTAINER SUITABILITY: Highly adaptable for container gardening. It grows exceptionally well in large pots on terraces, balconies, or sunny patios.
