Product Description

The Golden Custard Apple (often called Golden Sitaphal or Thai golden sugar apple) is a rare, premium grafted variety of the custard apple family (Annonaceae) prized for its striking golden-green exterior and exceptionally sweet, creamy pulp.

KEY PLANT CHARACTERISTICS

  • SCIENTIFIC IDENTITY: Usually associated with Annona squamosa or Annona reticulata hybrids (such as NMK Gold).

  • PLANT TYPE: Small, compact, semi-evergreen fruit tree that is ideal for container gardening or ground planting.

  • HEIGHT: Grows to about 2.5 to 6 feet in containers, or up to 15–30 feet if planted freely in open orchard soil.

  • FRUIT PROFILE: Heart-shaped or rounded fruits featuring a golden-yellow to golden-green hue, smooth-textured sweet flesh, and a rich, aromatic flavor.

  • HARVEST ADVANTAGE: Premium grafted golden custard apple plants bypass the long wait of seed-grown trees, often starting to flower and fruit within 1 to 2 years.

ESSENTIAL GROWING REQUIREMENTS

  • SUNLIGHT: Requires 6 to 8 hours of direct, bright sunlight daily to support healthy flowering and sweet fruit development.

  • SOIL: Thrives best in well-draining sandy loam or fertile garden soil mixed with organic compost or cow dung manure.

  • WATERING: Needs moderate watering during the growing season; allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root rot.

  • CONTAINER SUITABILITY: Readily adapts to large terrace containers or grow bags ranging from 14 to 22 inches in diameter.
