Product Description

The Furush flower plant (Lagerstroemia indica), commonly known as Crape Myrtle, Jarul, or Pride of India, is a popular ornamental flowering shrub or small deciduous tree known for its vibrant, long-lasting blossoms.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS

BOTANICAL NAME: Lagerstroemia indica (Family: Lythraceae)

COMMON NAMES: Furush, Crape Myrtle, Pride of India, Jarul, Sawani.

APPEARANCE: A woody shrub or small tree growing 3 to 6 meters tall (smaller dwarf/hybrid varieties can stay compact in pots). It has smooth, pinkish-grey peeling bark.

FLOWERS: Ruffled, crepe-paper-like petals blooming in dense clusters. Colors include vibrant pink, purple, red, and snowy white.

BLOOMING SEASON: Heavy bloomer through summer and monsoon.

DORMANCY: Goes dormant in winter, shedding its leaves before sprouting fresh new foliage in spring.

BASIC CARE GUIDE

SUNLIGHT: Requires 6 to 8 hours of direct daily sunlight to produce heavy and vibrant flower clusters.

SOIL: Needs well-draining soil mixed with organic compost. It adapts well to most soil types as long as water does not log.

WATERING: Allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings. Keep it moderately moist during the active growing and flowering season.

PRUNING: Prune light branches after the flowering cycle or during late winter dormancy to encourage bushier growth and more flower buds for the next season.

FERTILIZING: Feed with compost or a balanced organic fertilizer during spring or early summer when fresh leaves appear.
