Product Description
The Chausa Mango plant (Mangifera indica 'Chaunsa') produces one of South Asia's most celebrated, premium late-season dessert mangoes. Renowned as the "King of Sweet Mangoes," the tree yields highly aromatic, golden-yellow fruits with exceptionally sweet, juicy, and virtually fibreless pulp.
BOTANICAL & STRUCTURAL PROFILE
TREE SIZE & HABIT: Cultivated directly in the ground, it is a medium-to-large erect tree that can reach full maturity heights of over 6 meters (20 feet). However, nursery-bought grafted varieties are often trained or pruned to stay compact around 8 feet for home use.
FOLIAGE: It features distinctively long and wide evergreen leaves, which makes the plant easy to visually distinguish from other local mango varieties.
FRUITING CYCLE: Buds emerge around January, and the fruit ripens late in the summer season (typically July to August).
GROWTH & CARE REQUIREMENTS
SUNLIGHT: Thrives in full, direct sunlight. It needs at least 6 to 8 hours of sun daily to optimize fruit sugar levels and overall tree development.
SOIL: Prefers well-draining, fertile loamy soil rich in organic matter. Ensure the planting site doesn't hold stagnant water to avoid root rot.
WATERING: Provide moderate, regular watering during its initial growth years and dry spells. Allow the soil surface to dry slightly between sessions, and scale back watering significantly during dormant winter months.
PRUNING & FEEDING: Feed with a balanced organic compost or manure every 3 to 4 months. Prune gently during its dormant phase to eliminate dead wood, optimize airflow, and manage its structural shape.
