Product Description
The Ball Sundari Apple Ber is a high-yielding, fast-fruiting hybrid variety of the Indian jujube (Ziziphus mauritiana) famous for its round, glossy fruits that look and crunch like miniature apples.
KEY PLANT & FRUIT CHARACTERISTICS
FRUIT APPEARANCE: Round, smooth, and glossy with a dual-tone skin color shifting from yellowish-green to a vibrant pinkish-red or crimson blush.
TASTE & TEXTURE: The interior white pulp is dense, extremely juicy, crisp, and intensely sweet with a tiny central seed.
HARVEST TIME: Grafted plants begin bearing heavy clusters of fruit within 6 to 12 months of planting, typically flowering around mid-year and ripening from winter through early spring (December to February/March).
GROWTH HABIT: Naturally a compact, bushy, semi-dwarf, and relatively thornless shrub/tree, making it exceptionally easy to manage.
CULTIVATION AND CARE GUIDE
CLIMATE: Thrives in hot, tropical, and subtropical climates; highly drought-tolerant.
SUNLIGHT: Requires 6 to 8 hours of direct, full sunlight daily to encourage heavy yields and bright fruit coloring.
SOIL: Prefers fertile, loamy, or sandy-loam soil with excellent drainage. Avoid waterlogging.
CONTAINER GROWING: Highly suitable for terrace gardening, balconies, and rooftops when planted in a large container or grow bag (at least 16x16 to 18x18 inches).
MAINTENANCE: Low maintenance. Water moderately (allow soil to dry slightly between waterings), feed with organic compost every 45 to 60 days, and prune annually after the harvest season to control size and boost future fruit quality.
NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS: High in Vitamin C, dietary fiber, antioxidants, calcium, and iron while maintaining a low glycemic index.
