Product Description
The 'Anne Arundel' hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos 'Anne Arundel') is a compact, woody-based hardy perennial cultivar featuring massive, dinner plate-sized clear pink flowers. Patented in it combines cold hardiness with tropical-looking blooms.
PLANT CHARACTERISTICS
SIZE: Grows 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide with an erect, somewhat shrubby habit.
FLOWERS: Clear pink, hollyhock-like, and up to 9 inches in diameter, featuring five showy overlapping petals and a prominent central staminal column.
FOLIAGE: Deeply cut, irregularly serrate, glossy dark green leaves with reddish stems.
BLOOM PERIOD: Mid-summer to early fall, with individual flowers lasting one day but opening in succession.
GROWING REQUIREMENTS & CARE
SUNLIGHT: Requires full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily) for the strongest stems and best blooms.
WATERING: Prefers consistently moist, organically rich soil; deep and regular watering is necessary to prevent leaf scorch, though it should not sit in stagnant standing water.
PRUNING & MAINTENANCE: Cut back stems to 3 to 4 inches in late autumn after a frost. New growth emerges slowly in spring. Light spring pruning removes any dead or weak stems.
