Product Description
The "All-time" or "All-season" longan (often marketed as the four-season or all-time longan grafted plant) is a special tropical fruit tree variety belonging to the soapberry family (Sapindaceae). Known widely as dragon eye fruit, it produces small, round fruits with tan leathery skin and sweet, translucent pulp surrounding a dark seed. While standard longan trees fruit once a year, "all-time" selections—usually propagated via grafting or air layering—exhibit stronger vigor and a heightened capacity to flower and bear fruit multiple times or over a more extended period in warm climates.
FRUIT CHARACTERISTICS
APPEARANCE: Round, 1 inch wide, light brown or tan exterior with translucent, juicy white flesh inside.
TASTE: Exceptionally sweet, musky, and aromatic, closely related to lychee but with a distinct, concentrated flavor profile.
THE "EYE" EFFECT: A dark, circular seed shows through the translucent flesh when peeled, creating the distinct appearance of a dragon's eye.
GROWING CONDITIONS
SUNLIGHT: Thrives best in full, direct sun exposure.
SOIL: Requires loose, fertile, and well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (5.5 to 6.5).
WATERING: Needs regular, consistent moisture during growth and fruiting phases, though it dislikes sitting in waterlogged soil.
CLIMATE: Highly suited for tropical and subtropical zones; young plants should be protected from harsh frost or extreme cold drops.
